Bald eagle recovering at rehabilitation center in central Michigan after it was hit by truck

SHEPHERD, Mich. (AP) — A bald eagle is recovering at a rehabilitation center for raptors after it was hit by a truck in central Michigan.

The eagle was taken to the Wildlife Recovery Association in rural Shepherd after it was critically injured in the July accident in Isabella County’s Union Township. Center co-owner Barb Rogers tells the Morning Sun that the eagle, named Al, has regained his ability to grasp and stand on prey and eat whole fish, but he’s still struggling with balance and other issues.

Al is considered a long-term patient at the center, and Rogers says he still has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
