Schererville man wanted in ex-wife's killing found dead in Illinois cemetery

SCHERERVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana man wanted in his ex-wife’s fatal shooting has been found dead at an Illinois cemetery.

Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Robert Byrd says Richard Kalecki’s body was found Sunday at a cemetery in Calumet City, just west of the Indiana-Illinois state line.

Byrd says the Crown Point man’s death remains under investigation but it appeared he had taken his own life.

Police had been looking for Kalecki in Saturday’s shooting death of 37-year-old Alessandra De Moraes-Emiliano at a fruit gift shop in Schererville.

Byrd says that shooting was caught on surveillance video.

Court records show Kalecki and his wife had divorced in 2012, months before he was charged with child molesting and sexual misconduct with a minor. He faced a March trial on those charges.
