Swiss Valley Ski & Snowboard Area could open this weekend if temperatures stay cold

Because of warm temperatures and little snowfall, Swiss Valley Ski & Snowboard Area hasn’t been able to open yet all season — but that could change this weekend.

It will cost the ski resort in Jones, Mich., about $140,000 to make 35 inches of snow to cover the entire property, according to our news partners ABC 57. Normally, the business is open by Christmas, but December’s warm temperatures and lack of snow delayed opening day.

“We all suffer with the ins and outs of the whole thing, but we just muddle through it and keep going, you know?” Jim Wiseman, owner of Swiss Valley, said.

Schools are scheduled to come to Swiss Valley on Thursday, Jan. 7. If all goes well and the temperatures stay cold, ABC 57 reported that Swiss Valley could open this weekend.
