INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis authorities say they’re investigating the death of a domestic violence suspect who was arrested “without incident,” complained of chest pain, went into cardiac arrest and died.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office is expected to perform an autopsy. The suspect’s name wasn’t released.
Police said in a statement late Thursday that officers responded around 9 p.m. to a domestic violence call after a teenager reported a man attacked her and her mother.
Officers arrested the suspect on domestic battery “without incident or the use of force.” The suspect was reportedly “cooperative and willingly submitted to his arrest.”
The suspect later complained of chest pain, an ambulance was ordered. Police say the suspect went into “critical cardiac arrest” inside the ambulance. Medics administered aid, but the suspect was pronounced dead.
