SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Brian Kelly has agreed to a six-year contract to stay on as coach at Notre Dame through 2021.
Athletic director Jack Swarbrick issued a release Friday announcing the new contract for Kelly. Terms were not disclosed. Swarbrick says Kelly had built the foundation of “a great Notre Dame football program.”
Kelly has coached the Irish for six seasons, the longest tenure of any Notre Dame coach since Lou Holtz led the team for 11 seasons. Kelly is 55-23 at Notre Dame, a winning percentage of .705. He guided the Irish to an undefeated regular season in 2012 before losing to Alabama 42-14 in the title game. The Irish have appeared in six straight bowl games.
