The investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine and two other men began in 2015.
Warsaw Police Department began the investigation into Kevin Bronson for cocaine and gang charges and eventually asked for Indiana State Police to assist, Marshall County Prosecutor E. Nelson Chipman Jr. said during a press conference Monday afternoon, Feb. 29.

Chipman was appointed special prosecutor in the case in August 2015 and a grand jury was requested in December. They issued indictments Dec. 16, which were sealed until Monday.
Rovenstine faces up to 38 years in prison after he was charged with several counts each of bribery, intimidation, assisting a criminal and official misconduct. He’s accused of accepting $40,000 in bribes from Bronson while he was incarcerated and a jail visitor of his, Mark Soto, in 2011, 2014 and 2015.
Bronson and Soto were both charged with several counts of corrupt business influence and intimidation.
It’s not yet clear who will serve as interim sheriff for Kosciusko County.
