South Bend parks to get major upgrades thanks to $5 million bonds

Parks in South Bend will be getting some upgrades this summer after $5 million bonds were approved by the South Bend Common Council last year.

Plans include installing a new ice rink at Howard Park, a new playground at Kelly Park and a new splash pad and basketball court at Fremont Park, according to our news partners ABC 57.

“Every neighborhood deserves a great park, and great parks make great neighborhoods,” Aaron Perri, director of South Bend’s Parks Department, told ABC 57.

A complete list of upcoming projects at South Bend parks can be found online.
