Elkhart shooting victim dies, police now investigating death as a homicide

A man shot multiple times in Elkhart on Tuesday morning, April 5, died after he was rushed to a hospital.

Joshua Shaw, 31, died after he was shot while sitting in the driver’s seat of an SUV on Malcolm Drive off of Homer Avenue, Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department said. Shaw was rushed to Elkhart General Hospital, where he died.

Police are now investigating the shooting as a homicide.

The Elkhart County Coroner’s Office is planning to perform an autopsy on Wednesday, April 6.

Elkhart Police found several shell casings at the scene of the shooting. No arrests or description of a suspect or suspects had been announced by 8 a.m. Wednesday.
