One person died after a vehicle hit a tree and caught fire near Niles, Mich., on Friday afternoon, April 8.

Briar Road was closed between Portage and Weaver roads while officers investigated the crash, WSBT reported.

The driver was killed. It’s not clear if anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The person’s identity has not been released.
