Gluten-free diets can make dining out difficult, but a Michiana woman is hoping to help with her new book.
Marcie Gamble wrote Gluten-Free Michiana: Your Guide to Dining Out in the South Bend Area after she was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2004, according to Amazon. Celiac is an autoimmune disease that causes people who eat wheat, rye or barley to get sick.
Gamble would contact restaurants before dining out to find out what she could eat there, but eventually realized other people with Celiac disease would benefit from that information too, WNDU reported. She started a company called Gluten-Free Dining for You and wrote Gluten-Free Michiana, which published in April.
“I actually go from St. Joseph, Michigan, down to Culver, from Michigan City over to Middlebury,” Gamble told WNDU. “So it covers everything and there are even a few banquet halls in there too.”
Gamble intends to write more gluten-free dining guides in the future.
Gluten-Free Michiana is available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions.
