Mishawaka hires contractor to kill geese plaguing city parks

You may soon notice less goose poop to dodge in Mishawaka parks as the city recently hired a contractor to round up and kill hundreds of Canada geese.

The geese were killed after non-lethal attempts to rid the city of the birds failed to work, according to the South Bend Tribune.

More than 400 geese were rounded up and exterminated according to state and federal guidelines and then buried, according to the South Bend Tribune.

Complaints about geese in traffic, as well as reports of residents being attacked by the birds and the poop they leave behind being a potential health hazard led to the removal, according to Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood, as reported by the South Bend Tribune.

The kill will cost the city around $10,000.
