Firefighters from the Clay Fire Territory had their hands full with a garage fire Sunday night.

A fire broke out on the 20500 block of Old Mill Road in South Bend just after 10 p.m. Sunday. The fire was raging in the garage when firefighters arrived, according to a press release.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within minutes. However, it had spread to the second floor attic space.

The people living inside the home were able to get out safely, and there were no injuries. However, the siding on a neighbor’s home was damaged due to radiant heat.

Clay Fire Territory is investigating the cause of the fire.
