Some Michiana counties and communities are getting millions of dollars in grant money from the Indiana Department of Transportation for road and bridge projects.

The grants are part of nearly $80-million going to 64 cities, towns and counties across Indiana for road and bridge improvements. In addition, money is going towards sidewalks and trails. Combined with local funds, almost $135-million is going to infrastructure in the counties receiving funds, according to an INDOT press release.

That includes $1.7-million for a bridge replacement in Noble County, along with just under $800,000 for an intersection improvement there.

Almost $1.7 million is going to Marshall County and a little over $1 million is going to Starke County for bridge improvements.

Plymouth is getting $2.1 million in INDOT funds, while Winona Lake is getting a little over $950,000. Both municipalities are fixing intersections.

Here is the complete list of awards and more information about the projects.
