From a City of Elkhart press release:

Mayor Tim Neese announced today the schedule for fall leaf pickup in the city of Elkhart.

The leaf pickup program will begin in Zone A on Monday, October 10.

WHAT: Zone A fall leaf pickup

WHEN: Monday, October 10 through Friday, October 14

WHERE: Neighborhoods north of the St. Joseph River and west of Johnson Street

WHAT: Zone B fall leaf pickup

WHEN: Monday, October 17 through Friday, October 21

WHERE: Neighborhoods north of the St. Joseph River and east of Johnson Street

WHAT: Zone C fall leaf pickup

WHEN: Monday, October 24 through Friday, October 28

WHERE: Neighborhoods south of the St. Joseph River and east of Third/Main Street

WHAT: Zone D fall leaf pickup

WHEN: Monday, October 31 through Friday, November 4

WHERE: Neighborhoods south of the St. Joseph River and west of Third/Main Street

Citizens are asked to put the leaves adjacent the curb, but not extending into the street. Residents should not put limbs, trash, stones or bricks in the leaf piles. Any branches or limbs should be in a separate pile.  Garden waste – such as floral or vegetable – may be placed on top of the leaf piles, but not mixed in. The regular weekly trash service will not pick up leaves to take to the landfill.

If you have any questions, please contact the Elkhart Street Department directly at 574-293-5518; however, there is no need to contact the Street Department to provide an address for pickup. These services will be automatically provided during October and early November.
