GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Rick Snyder says the presidential election is a “huge mess” and Republican nominee Donald Trump‘s “revolting and disgusting” comments about women could pose challenges for Republicans on Michigan’s ballot.
The Republican governor hasn’t endorsed Trump. But he acknowledged Thursday after Grand Rapids event that Trump’s problems may “make it a more challenging environment” for Republican candidates.
Trump is denying new reports of inappropriate sexual behavior less than a week after the publication of a 2005 recording in which he boasted of using his fame to kiss and grab women without their consent.
Snyder says he’s focused on helping Republicans keep control of the Michigan House.
Some Michigan Republicans — such as Lt. Gov. Brian Calley and U.S. Reps. Fred Upton and Justin Amash — say Trump’s candidacy should end.
