PAW PAW, Mich. (AP) — A southwestern Michigan man convicted of murder in beating death of his 32-year-old wife has been sentenced to life in prison.

Brent Bogseth was given the sentence on Monday. A Van Buren County jury earlier found him guilty in the case.

Kimberly Bogseth’s body was found Sept. 9, 2015, in Van Buren County’s Columbia Township. She was reported missing about a week earlier.

During the search, police found her cellphone and a hammer in her husband’s SUV. A medical examiner ruled that she died from blunt-force trauma.

In a statement, the family of Kimberly Bogseth says they’re now working to get custody of the couple’s child.
