One person is dead after a pickup truck crashed near a creek leading to the Elkhart River.
Police were called to the area around 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, though it’s believed the crash may have happened Sunday evening.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department confirmed one fatality, ABC 57 reported.
Roads around the area were shut down while deputies and conservation officers with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources investigated.
Crews were reportedly having difficulty accessing the truck through the water before a rescue could be attempted.
