A former Notre Dame football player accused of having a handgun without a license and marijuana will have to wait for sentencing.

That’s because Max Redfield has failed a drug screening this week, according to WNDU.

Redfield was dismissed from the football team a day after being arrested with four others in August.

The five were arrested Aug. 19 after their car was stopped for speeding and an improper taillight. Police say they found two bags of marijuana.

Redfield will now be sentenced in January 2017. Aston White and Dexter Williams, two of the five arrested, have entered programs to get their marijuana convictions dismissed if they complete the program.
