INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A top Indiana Republican is suggesting the Legislature may not be able to stop the convenience store chain Ricker’s from selling cold beer before the end of session.
The Indiana-based chain began selling cold beer for on-site consumption and takeout at two locations earlier this month, generating protests from lawmakers. Indiana has long reserved carryout cold beer sales for liquor stores.
GOP Senate leader David Long now says it’s harder to stop the sales than initially anticipated.
House Speaker Brian Bosma says lawmakers may be forced to allow the chain’s cold beer sales to continue for a while but wants to work on closing the loophole.
Both called for a summer study committee to take another look at what Bosma calls the state’s “antiquated, outdated” beverage laws.

Please tell me how this is not corruption at its core! Who exactly doesn’t want any store to be able to sell cold beer? Politicians, that’s who. Why you ask? Because the lobbyist pay them a lot of money to keep cold beer sales in liquor stores only…Corruption, greed and self serving politicians run this country.
Your exactly right. Too bad Bosma can’t act on real problems in our state as quickly as he did this… Does he not have anything else going on!?!?
Punishing a business for meeting the letter of the law and legally receiving a license to operate because it doesn’t fit their (fund raising) ideas is the height of idiocy.
We need smaller government at EVERY level. Just stop taking our money and building your own version of a utopia.
