New Buffalo Township stabbing suspect arraigned on assault charge

A woman in New Buffalo Township accused of stabbing her roommate has been arraigned.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department say it happened just after 7 p.m. Sunday in the 12000 block of Wilson Road. Officers say 20-year-old Amberly Gomez got into a verbal argument with a 42-year-old woman and stabbed her in the abdomen.

The victim was taken to a Michigan City hospital and is expected to fully recover.

Gomez faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
