Two shootings in Elkhart kill one, hospitalize another

(Andrea Alvarez/ABC 57)

It was a busy night for police in Elkhart, who were called to the scene of two shootings, one of them, deadly.

That one happened around 9:45 an apartment complex in the 700 block of Monroe Street. Police say a 17-year-old boy was struck by gunfire after an argument and died a short time later at Elkhart General Hospital.

Less than an hour later, officers were called to the 400 block of Vistula Street where an argument between a man and woman turned physical.

Police say the man fired a gun, hitting the woman in the shoulder. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, and then later released.

Both shootings remain under investigation.
