Motorcycle rider flown to South Bend hospital after serious crash near Elkhart

A motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries in a crash Thursday night.

The crash happened on County Road 4 north of Elkhart near the intersection of County Road 11. The crash happened around 9:30 p.m., when the biker went off the road and hit a mailbox.

The man suffered serious injuries to his shoulder and leg, according to an Osolo Township firefighter. A MedFlight helicopter flew the victim to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment.

The crash is still being investigated by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
