The Sears at the Pierre Moran shopping center in Elkhart is closing, along with 42 other stores nationwide as Sears Holdings struggles to stay afloat.
The Indiana stores affected are the Sears locations in Elkhart, Clarksville, and Schererville, as well as the Kmart in Anderson. They’re all set to close by early October.
This announcement comes on the heels of 256 stores that were already on the chopping block. The company said last month they’ve been “strategically and aggressively” evaluating their store spaces and productivity.
Officials also admitted last March there was “substantial doubt” the company would be able to survive on its own.
The Elkhart Truth is reporting the auto center at the Elkhart location will close by the end of July, with the store closing by the end of October.
KMart in Mishawaka is in the process of their liquidation sale before closing.
