(Jess Arnold/ABC 57)

A day after a fatal crash in South Bend, the girl who died because of it has been identified.

6-year-old Maliyah Davis was identified by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office as the victim of the crash at O’Brien St. and Vassar Ave. It happened at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers say a grandmother was driving with her two grandkids in an SUV when the crash happened.

A woman in the other vehicle, a gray Chrysler 300, was photographed checking out the crash afterwards before she took off. Her name has not been released to the public.

Police do believe that the Chrysler 300 had the right-of-way before the crash happened.

The owner of the car has been contacted and is cooperating with police. The woman who ran from the vehicle is not the owner of it.

Police are actively searching for the woman. If you’ve seen her, contact police immediately.

Obviously she has some reason for running. Warrants perhaps? Maybe she was high at the time? Had weed in the car or worse? No drivers license more than likely? No insurance? No common sense! No values or decency! It is sad because sounds like it truly was an accident. at least she stuck around for a bit to see if anyone died…She will be caught eventually.
