There were no injuries reported after a small plane crashed into a ditch off Lincolnway West near South Bend International Airport.

The collision happened around 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, according to South Bend Police.

The plane grazed a vehicle, causing minor damage, before crashing into the ditch.

“We received a call of a small aircraft that had gone down just shy of the Southwest runway. The officers arrived to find that this plane that you see behind us had experienced some difficulty in landing and at the time that it was coming in the roadway over US 20, it clipped a passing vehicle that was traveling westbound,” said South Bend Police Lieutenant Gene Eyster as reported by 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.
