How to help Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma victims rebuild

Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma may be over, but it will likely take Texas and Florida months or even years to rebuild.

Thousands of homes were destroyed by the hurricanes, and several businesses were damaged. More than 100 people were killed and that number rises almost daily since the storms. It’s estimated that the total cost of of the damage will be $290 billion or more.

Here are 5 ways you can help.

1. Donate to the American Red Cross

Staff members and volunteers with the Red Cross are working 24 hours a day to help hundreds of thousands of people impacted by Harvey and Irma. Donate at this link to mark your donation to go directly to Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma recovery efforts.

2. Attend a Nelson’s chicken fundraiser with Federated Media

The Federated Media family of radio stations is raising money for the American Red Cross’s Hurricane Harvey and Irma relief efforts with Nelson’s chicken fundraisers.

5. Want to volunteer? Register with volunteer organizations

National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster is coordinating volunteer efforts so that volunteers can be deployed in an organized manner. Showing up to help without direction causes more problems for the people in Texas and Florida.
