This year, Giving Tuesday at REAL Services isn’t just about donations, it’s about ensuring people get fed.
The nonprofit will host a chili lunch at its main office at 1151 S. Michigan St. in South Bend, on Tuesday, Nov. 28. You can purchase a ribeye or a vegan chili, both made with kidney and black beans. You’ll also get a piece of house cornbread and can choose from sides including pickled Fresno chilis, crème fraîche, chopped white onion, and aged cheddar cheese.
The cost of a serving will be $8 for 8 ounces or $16 for 16 ounces. The lunch will be served grab-and-go style from the Simply Catering To You food truck. Pre-orders are required.
Proceeds from the chili lunch will benefit REAL Services’ adult guardianship program.
The nonprofit’s adult guardianship program is available to individuals aged 60 or older who are unable to make financial decisions for themselves. Additionally, they must lack a suitable person in their lives — whether family or friend — who is willing to take on the responsibility.
Adult guardianship is open to individuals living in Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, or St. Joseph counties in Indiana.
If you can’t attend the chili lunch, you can also make a donation to REAL Services for Giving Tuesday. You can give through the REAL Services website or by mailing a check. REAL Services also accepts vehicle donations and legacy gifts. Donations of all amounts are welcome and can make a real impact on the lives of people in our community.
