Police officer hit on I-94 near Sawyer exit

A Chikaming Township police officer was hit while investigating a crash in Berrien County.

It happened around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, on I-94 near the Sawyer exit at mile marker 12.

ABC 57 reports Chikaming Township officer David Wyman was rushed to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph and is reportedly in stable condition.

Investigators say Officer Wyman was tending to a vehicle that had went into a ditch and was about to clear the scene when he was hit outside of his patrol car. The vehicle that hit Wyman then ran into the rear of his patrol car.
