An Elkhart man is dead after his van crashed west of Bremen Friday morning.

It happened on U.S. 6 east of Jarrah Road at about 9 a.m. Friday. Marshall County officers discovered a purple Dodge van off the road after it hit a mailbox and drove into a fence before ending up in a ditch.

63-year-old Walter Conner died of his injuries at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
