Icy road conditions claimed the life of an Elkhart man Tuesday morning in Cass County.

Sheriff’s Deputies say the driver, 48 year-old Daniel Staley, was killed in a rollover crash on U.S. 12 near Union Road.

Staley was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Several sliding crashes were reported in southwest Michigan along with LaPorte County due to black ice that had formed overnight.
