A car burst into flames after a man accused of driving drunk crashed it into a tree.

It happened west of Goshen on County Road 11 near County Road 32 Wednesday morning. Deputies received a call of a suspicious person and went to the scene.

When they arrived, they found a vehicle had smashed into a tree and was fully engulfed in flames. The suspicious person ended up being Reyd Garner, who drove the vehicle and allegedly had a blood alcohol content level of point-2-2-4, which is almost three times the legal limit.

He wasn’t harmed, but he was initially charged with operating while intoxicated and booked into Elkhart County Jail.
