A big announcement Thursday at the South Bend International Airport.

American Airlines official Dale Morris was among the throng of business, state, and local leaders to unveil the new direct flights from the South Bend International Airport to Charlotte and Dallas-Fort Worth. Flights will start on June 7th and will run twice daily. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb says this reflects the progress being made in Indiana.

Charlotte International Airport jumped the gun earlier Thursday by announcing their flights to and from South Bend.

Both locations are the 1st and 2nd largest hubs that American Airlines has to offer.

Among the local and state leaders on hand for the announcement included Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
