Shooting near St. Joseph High School leaves one person injured

A man was injured in a shooting in South Bend.

it happened just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, in the area of Notre Dame Avenue and LaSalle Street, near the St. Joseph High School football field.

The victim was shot in the upper leg after what witnesses called the sounds of multiple gunshots in the area. The injury is considered non-life threatening, according to South Bend Police.

The victim said he was in a vehicle with an unknown person at the time and then told to get out. As he was getting out of the car, he said he was shot.

The victim was not able to provide a description of the suspect.
