South Bend woman killed in car/dump truck collision in LaPorte

A South Bend woman was killed a crash involving a car and dump truck in LaPorte.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 25, at U.S. 35 and Boyd Boulevard.

Emergency crews extricated three people from the car.

Sharron Zimmerman, 54, died in the hospital afterward.

Two other people in the car were airlifted to Memorial Hospital. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

The crash closed all four lanes of U.S. 35 for about an hour.
