Theft charges have officially been filed against a South Bend man accused of stealing a Sam’s Club trailer.

The trailer came from the Mishawaka Sam’s Club. After employees reported the trailer stolen, ABC 57 reports a GPS tracker led police to the merchandise at a home on Fillmore Road west of South Bend Tuesday.

The trailer was reportedly pulled away from the Mishawaka lot on June 28.

Officers say they found stacks of merchandise in the back yard of the home. 35-year-old Andrew Scales claimed he saw two men he didn’t know unloading the truck in his back yard…a day before the trailer was stolen.

The discovery of the Sam’s Club trailer comes a day after a Walmart trailer from Lansing, Illinois was discovered in Mishawaka. It’s not known if the cases are related.
