Warsaw man arrested for alleged attack on wife using ax

A Warsaw man is in custody after allegedly causing serious injuries to his wife with an ax.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Joseph Waithira, 37, on a preliminary charge of battery causing serious bodily injury on Monday, Aug. 27.

They were called to a home on West Old Road 30 where they say they found Waithira attacking his wife with an ax after an altercation turned violent.

Authorities say she had visible extensive head injuries consistent with a weighted edged weapon. She was airlifted to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital for treatment.
