Police in Elkhart have arrested the suspect who was being sought in the dragging of a police officer this past weekend.

The officer stopped Derrick Woods, 27, on Saturday, Sep. 8, in the area of Southdale Drive and Hively Avenue on suspicion of drunk driving.

After attempting to escape on foot, Woods made it back to his vehicle and dragged the officer at least 15 feet before he was thrown off with minor injuries.

Police received a tip, Monday morning, that Woods was at the Econo Lodge on Cassopolis Street.

He was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement, as well as leaving the scene of a crash.
