GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) — A man charged in a 2011 home invasion that left a Goshen College biology professor dead and his wife badly injured has made his first court appearance.

An Elkhart County judge entered a not guilty plea Thursday for 23-year-old Winston Corbett, who’s being held without bond on murder and attempted murder charges.

The Elkhart Truth reports that Corbett was 16 when he allegedly attacked James and Linda Miller in their Goshen home in October 2011.

James Miller died from multiple blunt force and sharp force injuries after prosecutors said he came to his wife’s aid during the home invasion.

Authorities have released few details since Corbett’s October arrest. The judge has sealed probable cause affidavits, saying that releasing them would harm the ongoing investigation and possibly cause harm to witnesses.
