LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Lafayette Police say an officer was taken to the hospital in serious condition after being shot by another officer when a large dog charged them.
Lt. Brian Phillips says the injured officer was last listed in serious but stable condition after being shot in the back. He says the injured officer was wearing a protective vest at the time.
Neither officer’s name has been released.
Phillips says the “very large and aggressive dog” was seized by animal control personnel.
Police say the officers were investigating a criminal mischief complaint and a person wanted on a warrant when the shooting occurred inside an apartment.
