A former South Bend man accused of taking money from elderly investors is now in custody.
Sven Eric Marshall, 61, was sought by the FBI to face five counts of mail fraud. He allegedly accepted money from his clients before abruptly closing his office in December of 2017.
The US Attorney’s Office for Northern Indiana says Marshall ran an investment scheme that began in March of 1998 that recruited investors and transferred funds to unrelated accounts. The office says elder abuse scams such as this will be aggressively prosecuted.
Marshall, earlier, was ordered to repay more than $2.5 million to clients.
Marshall was captured on Wednesday, Jan. 16, in Clearwater, Florida.
