Benton Harbor man sentenced in connection with South Bend armed robbery

A Benton Harbor man has been sentenced to 154 months in prison after pleading guilty to robbery, carjacking and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

Marcus Edwards, 38, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to the charges that stemmed from an armed robbery at a South Bend hotel.

It was back in March 2016 when Edwards and and a co-defendant entered the business pointed a shotgun at a clerk and demanded money, according to federal prosecutors.

After the robbery, the duo followed a vehicle to a house in South Bend where they pointed a shotgun at the driver and passenger to take their car.

Co-Defendant Jerricka Johnson was sentenced in May of 2017 to 70 months for her role in this case.
