Fourth shooting reported in South Bend since Thursday

SATURDAY

South Bend Police detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of W. Western Avenue.

Officers were sent there after receiving a ShotSpotter alert, but the victim was not at the scene.

About 20 minutes later, police were notified about a shooting victim who arrived at the hospital with a non-life-threatening wound to the leg.

Through the initial investigation, officers learned the victim was in a vehicle in the 2300 block of W. Western when he heard shots and then noticed he was injured. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

FRIDAY

A man was shot in the stomach in South Bend. The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, in the 800 block of N. Portage Avenue. A woman was taken into custody, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57 News. Details on the circumstances that led to the shooting were not immediately released.

South Bend Police patrol officers and detectives were called to a home in the 1700 block of Scott Street around 8 a.m. on Friday, May 17, on the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the hip. Investigators determined the shooting was accidental. No arrests were made.

THURSDAY

South Bend Police officers were also called to Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Thursday night, May 16, after 16-year-old boy who walked in with a gunshot wound to his leg. The shots were allegedly fired around 8 p.m. that evening near the intersection of Elmer and Elwood in South Bend.

Where is Mayor Pete? OOPS he is out trying to remove Thomas Jefferson form our collective memory.

First of all… Current Mayor has never had public safety as a priority during his tenure. Secondly he is more concerned with his star status than doing the job he was elected to do and didn’t do! Thirdly… he is in my opinion the worst example of a “Rhodes Scholar” in the history of the prestigious award! Goes to show that smart on paper isn’t necessarily smart in word!
