Two South Bend Police Officers were injured during the arrest of an armed convicted felon Wednesday night.

The arrest involved a stolen car, and when the officers approached one of the suspects he attempted to flee on foot and then fought violently with the officers. The other suspect was detained without incident.

The man who attempted to escape was Joshua Williams, a convicted felon who was reportedly carrying a loaded handgun. None of the injuries were severe but South Bend F.O.P. President Harvey Mills says they show just how close officers come to deadly threats on a daily basis.

Williams faces various charges and was also on probation for a previous robbery.
