South Bend Cubs to Play for League Championship

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

The South Bend Cubs are continuing their push into the playoffs  after making it in as a wildcard team the Cubs have yet to lose a game. That included sweeping last year’s Champion, the Bowling Green Hot Rods, and the Great Lakes Loons.

The Championship, which starts on Wednesday, is a best of 5 series and South Bend will host at least one more game at Four Winds Field. The Cubs will face the winner of Monday’s Western Division Championship which will be either the Cedar Rapids Kernels or the Clinton LumberKings.

South Bend’s last Midwest League Championship crown came in 2005 as the South Bend Silverhawks, and before that in 1993 as the South Bend White Sox.
