ANGOLA, Ind. — A woman from Michigan left her children locked in a hot van while she went into a grocery store in Angola to steal groceries.

Sallie Wireman, 23, is accused of neglect and theft, said WANE-TV.

On Thursday, police found the can in the parking lot with only the rear window vents open. The children were inside the van crying.

Police were about to get the 2-year-old and 3-year-old out of the van, which was 128 degrees inside. Police said the children had been in the van for more than 30 minutes.

Wireman then left the store with items she didn’t pay for, and the children were given to child welfare workers.
