A Knox woman was killed in a fiery crash in LaPorte County.

Sheriff’s deputies were called just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, to the area of State Road 39 and County Road 1800 South in rural Prairie Township where they found a vehicle engulfed in flames in a ditch.

The white 2015 Hyundai Tucson was traveling southbound on State Road 39 when it entered a curve. For an unknown reason, the driver, Lorie A. Myers, 45, failed to navigate the curve. The vehicle left the road and collided head-on with a tree, according to the police report.
