Murder trials set to resume in Elkhart County

Several murder trials are set to take place, soon, as cases postponed during the pandemic begin to resume.

Charles Bussard, 31, is set for trial June 7 trial for the 2015 death of his uncle, Byron Bussard. He was arrested after he came to police with information in January of last year.

Bussard was deemed competent to stand trial in February after receiving three mental evaluations, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

Another murder suspect, Allen Sage is set for trial that same day for the death of Kenneth Black, after confronting him about speeding past his house.

The Elkhart Truth also reports 35-year-old Knesha Carruthers, 35, is set for trial on June 21. She is charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of Jimmie Gillam, 33, in 2019.
