More than 99% of Indiana Michigan Power’s approximately 28,000 customers, whose service was disrupted after two severe storms on Sunday evening and early Monday morning, had their power restored by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22.

At that point, less than 200 customers remained without power. The majority of those still impacted were in Elkhart County. By late Tuesday night, only a couple of dozen I&M customers remained in the dark.

In the last phase of storm restoration, crews are working on repairs to restore a few, or even a single customer at a time.

After fully assessing all storm damage, including using drones to inspect hard-to-reach areas, like swamps, crews and contractors discovered 60 broken or damaged poles, 213 individual spans of wire down and 19 transformers damaged.
