Man dead after being pulled from St. Joseph Lake on Notre Dame campus

A man was pulled from St. Joseph Lake at Notre Dame.

It happened around 7:15 p.m. on Friday, July 2.

The man, 29, climbed a fence and jumped off a pier into the water, according to authorities. South Bend Fire Department crew members found his body at the bottom of the lake.

The man was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he was pronounced dead.

The man was not affiliated with Notre Dame, according to university officials.
