A 17-year-old Elkhart boy was killed and two other people hurt in a crash.

The collision happened on County Road 108, around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, when Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies say the vehicle was traveling eastbound, about a mile east of Bristol, before veering off the north side of the road and hitting a tree.

The teen who died, Juan Avalos Jr. of Elkhart, was a passenger in the car.

The sheriff’s department released more information, during the weekend, about the two people who survived the crash. They say the driver, an 18-year-old Elkhart woman, suffered neck and hip injuries. An 18-year-old Goshen man who was another passenger suffered possible head injuries.

Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
